Two New York Muslim women working for authorities suffered hate crimes just 36 hours apart, authorities said. Hate crimes incidents against the Muslim-Americans has increased following the surprise victory of Republican Donald Trump in the US elections.
A uniformed city transit employee was rushed to hospital with injuries to her knee and ankle after being pushed down the stairs at Grand Central Station, the bustling rail hub in the heart of Manhattan.
Democratic New York Governor Andrew Cuomo, said that, a male suspect allegedly pushed the station agent and called her "terrorist," said
City mayor Bill de Blasio, said that, "Do I blame Donald Trump for using hate speech during his campaign? Absolutely. He did. It's a fact. He said horrible things about Muslims, horrible things about Mexican Americans."
"I became a police officer to show the positive side of a New Yorker, a Muslim woman, that can do the job," Police officer Aml Elsokary said.
