Ohio University Indian Student Association Set For DiwaliLocal Events

The Indian Student Association of Ohio University is all ready to host Diwali celebrations at the Browning Amphitheater, Columbus, Ohio, according to a media report. The celebrations would include traditional dances and Bollywood music as well. So ensure you make yourself present at the venue and enjoy all the fun.

The idea behind the vent by ISA is to bring the essence of annual festivities of India to folks who are away from home land. The organizers would provide mithais, diyas, chai (tea), firecrackers and rangoli. All those who attend are free to get other items if wanted to use in the decoration and lighting up of the Amphitheater.

ISA looking to give all an opportunity to light up the Amphitheater with diyas just like homes back in India. The lighting set-up would begin at 6:30pm, which would and followed by rangoli. This would follow a short poja and handing out the fire crackers.

A post from the Ohio University has quoted student association President Swathi Raghu as saying that guests at the event would able to learn about the prominence of Diwali and they way it is celebrated as festival of lights in India.

Office of Institutional Research data revealed that over 100 students from India are studying at Ohio University as of 2014.
