Notable YouTuber Desmond Amofah aka Etika has been found dead, with his body pulled out of the East River on Tuesday morning, the New York Police Department has confirmed. He was 29.

The grounds of death is yet to be confirmed.

Etika went missing on June 20and had last appeared before his followers and friends on June 19. "We regret to inform that Desmond Amofah aka Etika has been found deceased," the police department said in its statement.

YouTube, the video sharing platform through which Etika had earned stardom, also issued a statement expressing sorrow over his demise.

"We mourn the loss of Etika, a beloved member of our gaming creator community. All of us at YouTube are sending condolences to his loved ones and fans," said the statement issued by YouTube Creators page on Twitter.

Though the official confirmation is awaited, a case of suicide is being suspected. The body will be sent for autopsy for further investigation.

In April, Etika posted tweets which were indicating a “suicidal mindset”.
