Harvey Weinsten Arrested on Sexual Assault, Abuse Charges

Harvey Weinstein, an American film producer turned himself to New York authorities on Friday to face sexual assault charges with attacks on at least two women.

According to sources, Manhattan prosecutors will be charging Weinstein with first-and third-degree rape and a first-degree sex act in two cases respectively. He’s expected to appear in court later in the day.

The 66-year-old Weinstein, with his lawyer and two detectives emerged from a grey Toyota Four-runner around 7:25 a.m. to face media.

"It's an incredible and unexpected moment. I am immensely grateful for what they have done,” said New Yorker writer Ronan Farrow.

Lucia Evans, whom he preyed told that she was an incoming college senior trying to break into film business when she met Weinsten at a nightclub. As Weinsten invited her to Miramax office, as she arrived he pulled her down to his crotch.

“I tried to get away, but maybe I didn't try hard enough. I didn't want to kick him or fight him. I just sort of gave up,” said Evans.

The attorney’s office of Manhattan is expected to bring charges against Weinsten after a months-long probe.

More than 80 women have accused Weinsten of sexual harassment, assault and rape including actresses Gwyneth Paltrow, Ashley Judd and Angelina Jolie, however Weinsten denied having nonconsensual sex with any of his accusers.

The allegations against the film producer inspired women across the country to come forward with stories of sexual abuse with a trending hashtag #metoo movement.
