Nikki Haley And Her Son Heckled During Gay Pride Parade

Nikki Haley, the U.S. Ambassador to United Nations has took the Twitter on Sunday to claim that she and her son have been heckled as they left the New York City restaurant while city's annual Gay Pride Parade has been taking place.

It was unclear where Haley was dining at or what was said to her and also her son.

Haley was one of the Trump administration’s most outspoken members, in her role as a ambassador to the U.N., but some of  statements while governor of South Carolina have drawn the ire of the LGBT community.

In the November 2013, Haley has opposed a federal lawsuit challening the amendment in South Carolina's constitution which banned same-sex marriage.

"The citizens of South Carolina spoke ... spoke something that I, too, believe, which is marriage should between a man and a woman. I’m going to stand by the people of this state, stand by the constitution, I’m going to support it and fight for it every step of the way," Haley said at the time.

However, Haley has appeared to have changed her stance in the last year, when she has delivered the Republican response to the former President Barack Obama's final State of the Union address. Haley, who endorsed the Florida Senator Marco Rubio in the Republican primaries has promised that a Republican president would "respect differences in modern families, but we would also insist on respect for religious liberty as a cornerstone of our democracy."

Gay pride parades all across the nation in this weekend has took on the political overtones, a visible reaction to the Trump’s administration.

The activists were galled by the Trump administration's rollback by federal guidance advising the school districts to let transgender students to use the bathrooms and also locker rooms of their choice. The Republican president Trump has also broke the Democratic predecessor Barack Obama's practice of issuing the proclamation in honor of the Pride Month.

At the New York City parade, few attendees to the parade had wore "Make America Gay Again" hats, while the other group walking silently in the parade had wore "Black Lives Matter" shirts as they have held up the signs with a fist and also with a rainbow background, a symbol for the gay pride. Still others have protested potential cuts to heath care benefits, declaring that "Healthcare is an LGBT issue."
