Five men forced their way into a room at the Wayne Inn on Thursday, beating and robbing a man before telling him that his girlfriend was being held for a $2,000 ransom.

Wayne Police Sgt. Robert Simpson said in a statement late on Thursday  that three of the men have been arrested on kidnapping and other charges, and two remain at large,.

The male victim told police that, after beating him, the men stole his cash and prescription medication.

Simpson said , "The suspects also threatened to kill the victim's girlfriend if he did not give them an additional $2,000 by noon. The victim's girlfriend was being held against her will at a residence in Paterson," Simpson said.

According to Simpson, officers with the Paterson Police Department assisted Wayne police detectives. The victim's girlfriend was recovered safely in a home in Paterson. Three men were arrested inside the home.

They were identified as Joaquin Bennett, 31years old, Daris Wilkerson, 50 years old, and Reginald Bryant, 45 years, and all of them were from Paterson.
