After few hours, of a fatal shootout near the Atlantic City Expressway on Monday afternoon, State Police had started gathering together the details in an incident that also left four others wounded.

The shooting appeared to involve the occupants of at least two vehicles, a silver Nissan that was found on the northbound Garden State Parkway near the Expressway which contained the driver and a passenger who had been fatally shot.

Another vehicle, a white Ford Expedition, which was pulled into the parking lot of a Wawa located near Atlantic City International Airport. That vehicle contained four people who had all sustained gunshot wounds. Further information on their health was not available.

The identity of the man who died was being withheld, pending notification of next of kin. Police said that all those involved were male and under 40 years old.

State Police informed that Weapons had been found near one of the crime scenes.  Additional specifics were not available.

Police believed that others may have been involved in the shooting, and added that the victims were probably connected and that the violence was "not random."
