Governor Chris Christie recently appointed three Indian American doctors to the State Board of Medical Examiners, and one to the Domestic Violence Fatality and Near Fatality Review Board.

Those appointed to the State Board of Medical Examiners were Dr. Niranjan V. Rao, Dr. Sudhir M. Parikh and Dr. Chetan S. Shah. Reappointed to the Domestic Violence Fatality and Near Fatality Review Board was psychologist Dr. Shamita Das Dasgupta.

Dr. Rao, a graduate of Mahadevappa Rampure Medical College, has over 35 years of experience and practices in surgery, vascular surgery, thoracic surgery, and cardiothoracic vascular surgery.

Parikh is an allergist-immunologist affiliated with multiple hospitals in the Highland Park area, including Christ Hospital and Hoboken University Medical Center.

Otolaryngologist Shah is highly referred by most of the local pediatricians in Mercer County for tonsil removal and placement of tubes in the ears for chronic ear infections in children.
