Aaron Alexis was once an active Navy Reserve member from 2007 to 2011. He is a practicing Buddhist, but did not learn the lesson of non-violence. On Monday, he entered the US Navy Yard with a valid pass as a civilian contractor and shot several people, 13 of which have breathed their last.

Washington Police are still investigating the mass shootings that created chaos at the Navy Yard, where 3,000 people work everyday. As the employees settled down for breakfast, a series of bullet shots led to mayhem and subsequent stampede. Washington's Metropolitan police department and the park police arrived with 7 minutes in response to emergency calls at 8:15am.

Washington Police Chief Cathy L Lanier reported that Alexis was “the single and sole person responsible for the loss of life.” There are two other possible suspects who indulged in the crime. Victims were aged between 46 and 73. Alexis is dead too, but not from his own gun. A running firefight resulted in Alexis taking a shot.

Responding to the shootings, US President Obama commented, “The workers are patriots, and they know the dangers of serving abroad, but today they faced the unimaginable violence that they wouldn’t have expected here at home.” The president has decired the incident as yet another mass shooting.
