Over 300 volunteers and sponsors gathered at Royal Albert's Palace in Fords, ahead of the New Jersey India Day Parade on August 12, which runs from Edison to Iselin on Oak Tree Road. The event was the local kickoff for the parade.

Representatives from New Jersey's Indo-American business, professional, trade, religious, and cultural organizations attended the event at Royal Albert's Palace to show their solidarity with the Indian Business Association.

Over 40,000 people are expected for the parade which several speakers noted was the only India Day Parade to span two cities – Edison to Woodbridge.

"This is a one of a kind parade that happens nowhere else in the world," said Indian Business Association President Dhiren Amin. The parade is supported by over 100 organizations.  It occurs in the heart of New Jersey's Little India – Oak Tree Road and ends on Iselin's India Square.

The Indian Business Association, which hosts the annual celebration, ceremonially held a kickoff event earlier this month in Washington, D.C.

The parade will have dozens of floats and marching groups. It will also have bands, dancers, and will culminate with a cultural program. Grocery giant ShopRite is the title sponsor of this year’s parade.

The IBA has organized multiple seminars on important issues such as Neighborhood Security, the Affordable Care Act, Immigration, and Teenage Drug Use.

Earlier this year the IBA held a seminar with New Jersey Attorney General Gurbir Grewal and Middlesex County Prosecutor Andrew Carey.

For 27 years, the Indian Business Association has been serving the Indo-American community. Other major events include its Christmas Tree Lighting ceremony on India Square.
