SGPC establishes  21-member panel to study racial attacks on Sikhs abroad

A  21-member panel has been constituted by the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) to study the reasons behind racial attacks on Sikhs abroad. The panel will also  suggest measures to curtail such attacks on the Sikh community people.

The initiative to create the committee was taken during a  meeting chaired by SGPC president Avtar Singh Makkar on Thursday.

According to the SGPC president, the panel is scheduled to meet the victims of the racial violence and the community people living abroad. Anyone can send their opinion regarding the  racial attacks to the Sikhs, he added. Including a woman member, the panel comprise  SGPC members and officials,  heads of a couple of religious sects and  Sikhs scholars.

Daljit Singh Bedi, the  additional secretary of the SGPC  will  coordinate the panel.
