A Sikh-American Boy has written a book about children bullying from the communities in the US. The book is based on his own experience and aims to raise awareness on the issue.
The book 'Bullying of Sikh American Children: Through the Eyes of a Sikh American High School Student' has been written by Karanveer Singh Pannu, a teenage high school student from New Jersey.
18 year old boy said that, "Sikh-American youths are largely unrepresented and do not seem to have a voice on the national stage or in the media, especially when it comes to bullying."
"I wanted to help in any way I could to alleviate this pain and suffering which children from my faith go through on a daily basis," Pannu said.
He described the Sikh faith in the book and also explained the importance of the turban in their religion. He has detailed the history of the Sikh Community in the United States.
Pannu introduced the founding of the Sikh-American children survey, that he had conducted by his own. He interviewed numerous child psychologists and psychiatrists and advices the practical solutions drawn from these medical officials.
The teenager hopes that, the book will be helpful for Sikh-American children who have faced bullying. The book will also useful for the parents and the school administrators, who are trying to understand the experience of the students.
The study by The Sikh Coalition shows that, there are nearly 67 percent of the turbaned Sikh youth in California and Fresno have faced physical and cyber bullying in the schools. They even experienced the cyberbullying in the US.
