The Museum of Moving Images at the New York paid tribute to Mani Ratnam, Indian film director. The museum showcased “Politics as Spectacle: The Films of Mani Ratnam” is a series of three parts. The highlight was the director’s terrorism trilogy in 1990s.

Roja, Bombay and Dil Se are the films of the series. In a press preview at the Indian Consulate, that was organized by the museum, Ratnam discussed about each film.

Film professor at Columbia University, Richard Pena interviewed Mani Ratnam after screening of each film.

The Indian film festival in Los Angeles founder and the museum’s deputy director, Christina Marodua, said, “Mani Ratnam is a treasure, and we are pleased to host him in New York with three of his most significant and beloved films.”

“This weekend tribute offers audiences, both devoted fans and new viewers, a rare opportunity to see his gorgeous films on the big screen,” he added.

“Honestly I am not sure whether I should be happy or sad about it, but, unfortunately, those movies are still relevant today,” Ratnam said. “All the three films are an appeal for peace, and it is as valid today as it was back then.”
