American rapper, singer, and songwriter XXXTentacion was shot dead in Florida on Monday. The rapper's bleak, self-rhymed propelled him to the top of the United States chart this year.

XXXTentacion, 20, whose real name was Jahseh Dwayne Onfroy, was shot to death in beam daylight near a motorcycle store in Deerfield Beach north of Miami and was pronounced dead at a nearby hospital, the Broward County Sheriff's department said.

In recent years, XXXTentacion becomes one of the biggest names in hip-hop to be killed after a slew of murders in the 1990s.

The further details regarding the death were declined to give by a spokesman for the Sheriff's department and a representative for XXXTentacion did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

According to news source Sheriff's department said the two assailants in hoodies, with the gunman in red mask, stole a Louis Vuitton bag from rapper's vehicle and sped away in black SUV.

XXXTentacion, a Florida native gained a huge following by uploading songs on SoundCloud, a sharing site, with a dark, often muffled style of hip-hop dull of his depression and past crime lyrics.

In March, his second album entitled "?," debuted at the top of Billboard album chart.

The rapper's success led to controversy due to a violent past even by the standards of the rap world. At the time of his latest album's release, he was being released from house arrest as he awaits trial on charges of assaulting his former girlfriend.

Earlier this month, Spotify singled out XXXTentacion as part of the policy not to promote songs by artists known for harmful and hateful behavior, merely it backed down after charges that it had overstepped its role over obscure criteria.
