The demand for Andhra Pradesh special status has been burning issue since 2017and the protests for it always grab headlines and this time it is in New Jersey, United States.
At, “Overseas Friends of Bharatiya Janata Party” that aims to work towards projecting a positive and correct image of India and its people in the respective country meet that held in New Jersey, the Telugu people questioned BJP regarding their promise of AP special status.
It further led to chaos at the event and BJP’s Member of Parliament, GVL Narasimha Rao faced disapproval and opposition for his statements at the meeting.
Mr. Rao stated, “You may not have today the title of special status, but you have the same financial assistance under a different head,” which led to the objection of Telugu people at the event by walking out of the event and raising slogans against Narendra Modi.
A Telugu man and an occupant of New Jersey at the event questioned Rao asking, “I would like to know what BJP has done for a newly formed state that has been suffering for past four years and most of the people here at the event know BJP has done nothing for the sake of special status, indeed as previous Prime Minister promised in Rajya Sabha that there will be a special status for Andhra Pradesh.
