Super 30 Founder Talks About Indian Talent In New York

Anand Kumar, who is a mathematician and also the founder of ‘Super 30’, an educational program, said during a lecture last week that there was no dearth of talent in India.

Delivering a lecture at the New York Chapter Gala of Foundation for Excellence, Anand said, "All that is required is to spot the talent and provide the much-needed support to give them proper shape."

He said that there were many talented students who were unable to pursue basic education, due to poverty. Supporting those students could be the best way to give back to the society, he added.

"Poverty should not come in the way of education of talented students. It is in this light that I value the contribution of (Foundation for Excellence) FFE immensely. But it should not confine its support to just higher or technical education. There is a need to support students’ right from the primary or secondary stage," he added.

Kumar said that the FFE could have a much bigger potential and it should strive to make it a global initiative. "It is doing a wonderful work and if all Indians are working across the globe join hands for the noble work, it could have a transformational effect to give immense satisfaction to all those associated with it," he added.

Anand Kumar founded Super 30 in 2002 under his ‘'Ramanujam Institute of Mathematics’. The institute selects 30 meritorious and talented students every year from economically backward sections of society and educate them for admission in the prestigious Indian Institute of Technology (IITs).
