Fourteen students from the Indian diaspora have been selected for the prestigious ‘Intel Science Talent Search Competition’. The students will compete for for $1 million in prize. Maya Ajmera, the president of the Society for Science & the Public, said while announcing the finalist, that, “Finalists of the Intel Science Talent Search are the innovators of the future.”
There are total 40 finalists, including 14 from the Indian diaspora were chosen among 300 semi-finalists from high schools across the US. Ms. Ajmera said that, “Their research projects range from highly theoretical basic research of innovative practical applications aimed at solving the most vexing problems, but it’s not just their research that makes them stand out finalists are also selected based on their leadership capacity and initiative.”
The finalist contestant will travel to Washington for the competition in March. The prize money $1 million will be awarded by the Intel Foundation. Two Indian-American won second prize and two others won third place medals during last year competition.
